In case of an emergency, call our office as soon as possible instead of coming in directly. Calling helps up us come up with a solution faster and allows us to set a time for you to come in. Even if you have a regular appointment scheduled the next day, please give us a call as repairs take more time. Some common cases include:
Loose Brackets or Bands:The bracket may need to be refitted as soon as possible. Please call us immediately at the 269-535-0046 to decide on the correct course of action.
Wire Irritations:First, try to resolve the situation by moving the wire away from the irritated area with a cotton swab or clean pencil eraser (so as not to prick your finger). If this does not work, cover the end with a small amount of orthodontic wax. If a problem persists, call our office on the next business day if it is after hours when it occurs.
Lost Separators:Give us a call at the office, and we can determine if they need to be replaced.
Discomfort:Because your mouth is not used to the adjustment, there will likely be some pain, soreness, or discomfort during the first week. To help, you make take acetaminophen, ibuprofen, Motrin, or other non-aspirin pain relievers, remembering to eat something when taking the pills to avoid an upset stomach. Also helpful may be to place a warm wash cloth or heating pad on the side of your jaws.
