Orthodontic appointment MI

Getting Started

During the initial consultation, we discuss and decide on your treatment options, duration of treatment, cost of the treatment and treatment timeline. Treatment time will vary depending on the case.

Before braces are placed, patients must have had a dental exam and any necessary fillings completed. Patients should visit the dentist every 6 months for a thorough examination and cleaning, even after braces have been applied. Before each orthodontic appointment, patients must brush their teeth. Toothbrushes and toothpaste are available in the office.

Appointments

Due to our use of modern technology and materials, we are able to schedule your orthodontic appointments 3 to 12 weeks apart.  Longer times between appointments means you will miss less work or school than orthodontic treatment required in the past, as well as make less trips to the orthodontist saving time and fuel costs.   Our staff makes every effort to accommodate each patient’s schedule. In order to help us continue to schedule efficiently, 24 hour notice is required to cancel an appointment.  To reach us call 1-800-4BRACES, locally in Kalamazoo 544-1222, or locally in Three Rivers 273-9595.

Treatment Time

Length of treatment varies greatly depending on the complexity of each individual case. Treatment may last from 18 to 30 months, or even more.  Appointments are typically scheduled from 3 to 12 weeks apart. Overall treatment time is effected greatly by patient cooperation. If you miss appointments, your treatment will obviously be longer. Not wearing rubber bands (if required) will also increase length of treatment.

Communication

Our doctor and office staff is always open to your questions about orthodontic treatment in general and your treatment specifically.  Dr. Souers is always willing to talk to you.  If you have any questions or comments talk to any of our staff members.  Written correspondence is given to our patients if there is a concern with their treatment, or an unusual situation.  If a parent is not present during an appointment, the document will be mailed or emailed to the responsible party. Please make sure that you read any information from our office.
